John Hammond’s penchant for piano-based blues hasn’t just gained him four Grammy nods and 29 albums under his belt—he’s also played with the likes of Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, and is a longtime friend of singer-songwriter Tom Waits. Sure, he may be a household name to anyone familiar with fairy tales, but once upon a time he was a mysterious, nameless dwarf on a mission. See the classic story from the Brothers Grimm go from page to stage thanks to Missoula Children’s Theatre. The theatre company will hold open auditions in Tracy November 16 for any child in kindergarten up to grade 12, and the show will feature 50-60 of our local kids that have participated in the week-long workshop. $10-$30. Run and Walk Against Hunger

Make a new Thanksgiving tradition with the fifth annual Run and Walk Against Hunger, to benefit the Stockton/San Joaquin Emergency Food Bank. The course follows a loop around the Stockton waterfront, starting and finishing at Banner Island Ballpark, where awards will be given to the top three places of each age group. Parade of Lights

The fourteenth annual Parade of Lights kicks off the holiday season with a rock-n-roll theme and an equally rockin’ parade. Festival of Trees

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker

Yoga Asana Championship
